Abstract
The committee was responsible for administrative decisions related to preserving instructional continuity at UNM as the authors shifted to emergency remote teaching in the spring semester of 2020. To achieve the goal of preparing both instructors and students for several modalities offered during remote instruction, collaborations across various areas were required. In addition, CTL staff met with 13 academic departments that spring to help them trouble-shoot how best to pivot to emergency remote teaching. With basic understanding of online tools such as LibChat, GoBoard and Zoom, the authors focused more of our training on using these tools purposefully within student interactions, including building a virtual learning community for students, enhancing active learning in online spaces, and communicating more intentionally online. In spring 2021, CTL hosted a conference focused on highlighting what aspects of remote teaching instructors, including graduate student instructors, want to keep as they return back to campus.
