Abstract
Belief in spirit possession-the idea that external spirits can inhabit, and in many cases control, a human body-has been recognized in most cultures across the globe. Given the near universality of the phenomenon, as well as the fact that it can be approached from religious, anthropological, psychological, and many other scholarly perspectives, it is difficult to cover the subject in a single volume.
