Abstract

assignment creation Arts and Humanities

This paper will focus on the creation, implementation, and assessment of a collaborative assignment designed by a language and literature instructor and the language and literature liaison librarian. The aim of the assignment was to incorporate popular resources into a course dealing with “The Other” with the eventual goal of creating a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) class that utilized the assignment. We looked at a number of resources before settling on a handful of comic books and movies that embodied the idea of “The Other” and the desire to belong in a community.
