There Must Be a Pony: What the Training Programs Don't Tell You Before You Assume that Leadership Position

Regina M Beard
National Conference of African American Librarians, 9th (08-04-2015 - 08-08-2015)
08-06-2015

Abstract

Abstract-- Even when our administrators are aware of our interests in leadership roles, ambitious librarians know that if they want to advance in the profession, they must consider relocation. If we are lucky, we may be appointed to, or get the opportunity to compete for an interim position. The presenter availed herself to such an opportunity and will highlight her experiences as a new department head; her expectations and those of the administration and staff.
