Abstract
Enterprise information systems have proven invaluable in improving the administration of organizations. Since the turn of the Century, enterprise system upgrades have become important. This study reports interviews with the ClOs of six institutions that have undergone (or are undergoing) enterprise system upgrades. Each interview discussed the process used to upgrade. Focus was on discussion of major critical success factors. This paper reviews critical success factors reported in the literature for enterprise system installation projects, and adds to that body of knowledge by preliminary views of factors important in successful enterprise system upgrade projects.
