Intimate Partner Violence and Same-Sex Relationships

Mikaela Bryant
Master of Science, Florida Gulf Coast University

Abstract

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is defined as physical abuse, psychological abuse, sexual abuse, and stalking between a current or former intimate partner (Centers for Disease Control 2022). Research surrounding IPV has been abundant throughout the years. However, the research is sampled mostly regarding heterosexual couples, where the male is the offender, and the female is the victim. The goal of this study is to analyze IPV in same-sex relationships to gain information for a future study.
