Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this case report was to describe the accepted intervention approaches used in physical therapy management of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). This case report describes DCD in a 7 -year-old boy including clinical examination and treatment progression. Intervention: No one specific protocol or approach was followed for treatment. Intervention was intended to address functional skill deficits through a combination of both task oriented and process oriented theoretical approaches. Results: Comparison between the pretest and posttest results showed gains in all areas of gross motor function. Initial and re-evaluation test scores represented below average scores of that compared to same-aged peers. Discussion: Based on the results, using a combination of intervention approaches based on the individual presentation and not the diagnosis has potential to be effective in improving motor skill competence in a child with DCD.
