Abstract
This case report presents an adolescent with an erythematous vesiculopustular, papular rash that was ulti-mately diagnosed as folliculitis. Folliculitis is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to an infection with bacteria. Some basic strategies for identifying and treating infectious folliculitis are discussed. The diagnosis of infectious folliculitis type is not always clinically apparent and cultures are sometimes required to identify the causative microorganism. By correctly identifying the un-derlying cause of infectious folliculitis, practitioners are better able to treat, minimize unnecessary antibiotics, and provide patient education to prevent recurrence.(c) 2023 Elsevier Inc.
