Abstract
The remanufacturing environment is a growing segment of the overall environmental greening effort. A study provides clear and definite findings that current production planning and control methods are not able to address the issues in a remanufacturing environment regarding capacity planning. Remanufacturing firms, at a minimum, must have accurate, up-to-date information on material recovery rates and routing operation frequency in order to cope with the higher degree of uncertainty. It is shown that new techniques need to be developed and implemented to replace the standard techniques.
