Abstract
Excerpt: I read Felissa Lashley’s recent guest editorial, “Thinking about Genetics in New Ways” (Zmuge: Journal of Nursing Scholarship,Third Quarter 1997) with both interest and trepidation. While advances in the science of genetics are moving forward rapidly, bioethics must keep pace. Animals can be cloned, but it is imperative that we ask, “Is it morally or ethically right to do so?“ Using genetic technologies just because we can, without studying the consequences is irresponsible and may very well cause our society irreparable harm.
