Abstract
In this issue of the Journal of Management, Spirituality and Religion we cover the gamut of the application of spirituality to working life, from education to career development to retirement. We begin with “Educating for conscious awareness” by Kathryn Pavlovich, which describes a course design, Managing with Spirit, that assists students to reach into and explore their own conscious awareness in order to be more attentive to their relationships with themselves, their workplace, community, and the planet. Conscious awareness implies a connection with all of life; it means acting with more intention, having greater self-regulating behavior, and demonstrating a deeper awareness of the causes and consequences of ones actions. Following a deeper examination of teaching pedagogies regarding conscious awareness, Pavlovich describes the structure of the course, challenges that may be encountered from engaging in such an approach, and the organizational implications for educating more conscious corporate citizens.
