Abstract
[Excerpt] BACKGROUND: Exercise-related affective valuations (feelings of pleasure/displeasure) purportedly impact exercise-related cognitions and future behavioral decisions. The majority of prior research is laboratory-based, and supports an inverse relationship between affect during exercise (i.e. in-task affect) and ratings of perceived exertion (RPE), both of which may be impacted by an individual’s pre-exercise mental states.
