Abstract
This study sought to understand the professional development needs of Graduate Faculty working with graduate students. Of the 150 responses, 72.7% had no professional development training in their work with graduate students prior to being at the university. Faculty most desire training in providing mental and emotional guidances to students, understanding policy and procedures, commitment to inclusion and diversity, and conflict resolution. Graduate Faculty training needs to address the demands of relationships and issues between graduate advisors and advisees, including communication, career development, and plan of studies. The research provides benchmarks for providing graduate faculty training and understanding their needs.
