Abstract
Physical activity promotion is suggested to aid in preserving former athletes’ long-term health and quality of transition as they retire from sport. Exploratory research has shown that fitness perceptions and exercise satisfaction—factors known to influence exercise behavior—fluctuate in former high school athletes (FHSAs) as they enter college, along with their behavior. To understand how best to improve exercise behavior in this population, changes to these factors should be further explored as FHSAs navigate their transition out of sport and into college.
