The authors express their sincere gratitude to the many Conservancy of Southwest Florida sea turtle interns for their hard work and dedication in deploying and retrieving the data loggers. We also thank the graduate students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for performing the hatchling histology. We are grateful to Jeff Schmid for providing his SAS expertise. We thank the Rookery Bay NERR staff and volunteers for their administrative support and field assistance. Years 2004 and 2005 of the study were funded by a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service South Florida Coastal Program grant. Exotic vegetation removal was conducted by Randell's Landclearing and by Walker Exotic Tree Eradicating and Mitigation funded by a grant from the National Marine Fisheries Service with additional funds from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Invasive Species to the Rookery Bay NERR. Research was conducted under Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Marine Turtle permit #116.
