Abstract
Past research has found that age and one's social environment influence everyday problem-solving performance (e.g., Cheng & Strough, 2004; Dixon & Gould, 1998; Strough & Margrett, 2002; Marsiske & Margrett, 2006). Specifically, social interactions may enhance performance in many domains (Gould, Kurzman, & Dixon, 1994; Kimbler & Margrett, 2009). Observing social interactions, however, allows little control over the situation or the multiplicity of verbal behaviors that are exhibited.
