Abstract
Organizations that track energy development have noted that China continues to be the world leader in wind power generation. Given the country's large geographical landmass, topographical elevations, coastlines, rapid industrial development, focus on green energy, and economic stimulation programs already in place this trend is a natural outcome. The rapid expansion of wind farming, both globally and within China, in combination with rising consumer intrigue with wind farms, increasing ecological preservation efforts, interest in 'green' tourist experiences, indicates a need to measure the predictive impact of environmental citizenship upon behavioral intent to engage in wind farm activities. Results of this study indicate that personal engagement in wind energy activities is predicted by enculturation of environmental beliefs, competence in ecological/environmentalism, and is accentuated by activism and engagement.
