Abstract
The article focuses on the study of educational leadership. The last two decades have witnessed the emergence of a variety of new perspectives and approaches. These include critical theory, hermeneutics, feminism, pragmatism and postmodernism/poststructuralism. The adoption of these perspectives has not only resulted in a more rich, more diverse and more profound understanding of the theory and practice of leadership in educational settings. It has also introduced new themes and issues to the study of educational leadership such as the moral, ethical and political dimensions of educational leadership, questions about culture, identity, and difference, and the role of democracy in leadership and education.
