Abstract
[Excerpt] The health, safety, and mental well-being of collegiate athletes are paramount concerns within the domains of sports science and sports medicine. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has been instrumental in advancing athlete welfare through a multifaceted approach that encompasses legislative measures, educational initiatives, and targeted mental health support systems (46–48). These initiatives are exemplified by the implementation of stringent drug testing protocols, comprehensive educational programs for athletes and coaches, and the development of specialized mental health resources designed to address the unique psychological and social challenges faced by athletes. The NCAA's integration of mental health support with physical wellness initiatives underscores its commitment to a holistic approach to athlete well-being, acknowledging the interdependence of physical and psychological health.
