Expertise

My research focus involves critiquing the dissent rhetoric of social activists such as Al Feldstein, editor of Mad Magazine; Mavis Leno, chief spokesperson for Feminist Majority Foundation; and Glenn Smiley, nonviolent action mentor of Martin Luther King, Jr. I currently have a book under contract with Michigan State University Press titled: "On God's Left Side: William Sloane Coffin, Jr.'s Radical Prophetic Dissent Rhetoric." In addition, I have a new research trajectory in documentary theatre of social change. As an educator, I am committed to making connections between rhetoric and social justice and dissent with students.
