Dr. Melody Morrison is Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy and Class Piano at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she teaches piano pedagogy and coordinates class piano studies. She is an active performer, teacher, and clinician whose work focuses on developing creative, engaging, and student-centered approaches to piano instruction for today’s learners.
Dr. Morrison holds a Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy from Florida State University, where she also earned a Certificate in Piano Performance and was awarded the Clifford Madsen Award for Excellence in Music Education Research. She additionally holds degrees from University of Idaho (Moscow, ID) and Corban University (Salem, OR).
An active teacher, clinician, and presenter, Dr. Morrison has presented at state and national conferences including MTNA and FSMTA, with research interests centered on piano pedagogy, generational learning styles, technology in music instruction, and creative approaches to class piano teaching. She is co-author of the book Generations Z and Alpha Students at the Piano: A Guide for Piano Teachers and has published in Piano Magazine, Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, and Florida Music Director.
Dr. Morrison is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) and currently serves as Vice President for Membership for the Florida State Music Teachers Association. She remains active in professional service through both Music Teachers National Association and FSMTA.
